WATCH: Ray Houghton looks back on Liverpool’s Champions League win and 19/20 Premier League

Ray Houghton was in the University of Limerick this week to promote the National Exhibition of Football in UL whilst also taking in the 2019 Kennedy Cup.

Houghton as a former Liverpool player, spoke about the recent champions league triumph where his former side picked up a sixth European Cup.

Houghton, who was unable to watch the game as he was at a friends wedding, says the result was met with mixed reviews at the reception!

“There were about three of us that were delighted and about 95% were down because Spurs had lost the final.”

After losing their three previous finals under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp, Houghton says it was important to finally get their hands on silverware, despite the fact that it was arguably Liverpool’s worst performance of the year.

Houghton now expects the side to push on further under the German.

“In the end it’s about winning, and that’s what Liverpool did. I think under Jurgen (Klopp) that will be the first trophy of many.”
