Aidan Ryan Leaves Post as Joint Manager of Janesboro

Aidan Ryan has stepped down from his role as Janesboro Football Club joint manager following three years at the club. Ryan left Geraldines to take up the role and went on to win three successive league titles as co-manager with Janesboro legend Shane O’Hanlon.

‘Boro also won the Oscar Traynor FAI Trophy last season when representing the Limerick District League following a final victory over Kilkenny.

Despite such success in the recent past, Janesboro’s squad underwent a massive overhaul in the off season with no less than eight of the Oscar Traynor Trophy starting 11 departing the club for pastures new. A heavy defeat on the opening night of the season to Pike saw many write the southsiders out of the league race but a succession of wins got the club back on track.

However, Ryan decided to resign before Thursday night’s training session. Janesboro stalwarts Shane and Thomas Clarke have both recently left to join Aisling Annacotty while Irish Junior international Danny O’Neill returned to boyhood club Geraldines.

Ryan becomes the second high profile manager to leave his position early in the season with ex-Pike manager Mick Sheil resigning before a ball was kicked in July.

Shane O’Hanlon will remain in sole charge as the side prepare for a tough clash against Fairview Rangers at the Fairgreen on Sunday morning.
