Caherline fall narrowly short against Ballygiblin

Limerick Junior A Champions Caherline fell agonisingly short in their Munster Junior Club Championship semi-final contest with Cork outfit, Ballygiblin.

The game, played at Kildorrey GAA grounds, ended Caherline 0-10 Ballygiblin 1-9. A 41st minute goal from Dillon Sheehan proving crucial for the men in red and white.

For Caherline, they trailed 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval, despite facing a strengthening wind. Andrew Breenan (three frees) was joined kn the scoresheet by Aaron Power and James Enright.

Caherline inched ahead early in the second half, their first lead of the game. But Darragh Flynn leveled before Sheehan raised the kkly green flag of this intriguing contest.

Late efforts from Power and Jack Carroll weren’t enough as Michael Walsh landed a 64th minute effort to push his side two clear.

The Caherline team ahead of their clash with Ballygiblin

Ballygiblin now face Skeheenarinky (Tipperary) who are in fact their near neighbours.

Caherline face a lengthy break before rejoining the Intermediate ranks in Limerick in 2022.
