Limerick dominate Hurling Team of the Week after booking League final place

The Shannonsiders are the best represented on the squad with seven of the starting XV wearing green in their win over Tipp on Saturday.

Limerick dominate the GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week after easing past Tipperary to book their place in the National Hurling League final against Kilkenny.

John Kiely has seven of his team selected onto the XV following the 1-28 to 0-25 win in the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening.

Cian Lynch is in the running for player of the week after throwing over a pair of points and knitting together the flowing Limerick attack. Kilkenny’s Billy Drennan and Tipperary’s Alan Tynan join Lynch in the shortlist. You can vote on Instagram stories.

Netminder Nickie Quaid is named in goals after keeping a second successive clean sheet in the league. In front of him, Sean Finn and Barry Nash are chosen in the full-back line. It is a second selection for Nash this season, who was one of fourteen Limerick men to find the target.

Declan Hannon is chosen at centre-back as he helped himself to a brace of points on the Ennis Road. Lynch is joined in the half-forward line by Tom Morrissey, who is on the team for the third time in four games.

Peter Casey, who was the goalscorer in the win, completes the Limerick contingent where he is named at corner forward.

Kilkenny, who booked their place in the final after beating Cork are the next best represented with four including Drennan. Tipperary have three selected in Tynan, Gearoid O’Connor and Jason Forde while Rob Downey is Cork’s sole selection.
