Limerick rivals drawn together in Fitzgibbon Cup, UL paired with UCC in Sigerson

The draws for the 2023 Higher Level Education GAA Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups were made in Croke Park today.

The Limerick colleges learned their fate in the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cups as the draws for the 2023 competitions were confirmed this afternoon.

In the Fitzgibbon Cup, there are three Limerick colleges involved in defending champions UL, TUS MidWest and Mary I. As they were in 2022, UL are drawn alonsgide TUS MidWest in Group D of the competition. They are joined by ATU Galway. Last year both UL and TUS made it out of their groups with the Castletroy College going on to beat NUIG in the decider. The duo provide 11 Limerick players to this year’s edition.

Mary I are in Group B with SETU Carlow and DCU. Mary I were eliminated in the group stages in 2022, where they were paired with eventual finalists NUIG and the defending champions UCC. They have Patrickswell’s Jason Gillane in their ranks for the upcoming season.
