Limerick the best represented on the All-Star hurling team with magnificent seven

The awards were announced at the PwC All-Stars in the Convention Centre in Dublin this evening.

Limerick dominated the Hurling Team of the Year with seven selections at the PwC All-Star Awards on Friday evening in the Convention Centre.

After breaking the record with twelve last year, the three in a row champions were once again the best represented.

All-Ireland runners up Kilkenny had four chosen to the team while Clare had three. Galway had one chosen on the XV.

He was joined by South Liberties’ Barry Nash who was selected at corner back for the second year running. Sean Finn missed out on a fifth successive award while Mike Casey was also overlooked.

Patrickswell’s Diarmaid Byrnes and Adare’s Declan Hannon were chosen to the half back line for the third time each. Byrnes collected a third successive award while Hannon added to his 2018 and ’21 awards. Galway’s Padraic Mannion rounded out the line.

William O’Donoghue of Na Piarsaigh missed out in midfield with David Fitzgerald and Adrian Mullen selected.

St Patricks’ Gearoid Hegarty was the first chosen to the half forward line alongside Kildimo Pallaskenry’s Kyle Hayes with both picking up a third successive All-Star award. Clare’s Shane O’Donnell made up the half forward line with Tom Morrissey missing out.

Aaron Gillane was the final Limerick man picked on the team with a third in four years for the Patrickswell native. He was joined in the full forward line by TJ Reid and Tony Kelly.
