REPORT: Limerick Junior Camogie team bow out to clinical Kerry side in Munster Championship

Munster Camogie Intermediate Championship – Preliminary Round

Pat Ryan’s Limerick junior camogie team lost out to a strong Kerry side on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-6 on Saturday evening.

In fine conditions for the Munster preliminary round at Fedamore GAA, the game got off to a lively start with both teams scoring early on to leave the scores level at two-a-piece after ten minutes.

Fedamore GAA on a fine Saturday evening

After the first water break, Enya Harrington made the most of a sniff at goal with a fine effort to hit the back of the net for Limerick.

Na Piarsaigh’s Harrington went on to add to her talesly with one of her many fine frees before half-time to leave Limerick ahead by three at the interval.

Patrice Diggins of Kerry started the second half on the front foot with a pointed free to keep Kerry within touching distance.

Murgret’s Ailbhe Larkin restored the Limerick lead shortly after but the lead was short lived as Kerry upped the ante in the second half.

There were a few lapses in the Limerick defence that allowed Diggins to take full advantage of the free opportunities as she went on to score five unanswered points to leave Kerry ahead by two at the water break in the second half.

Limerick came out fighting with two scores from Steph Woulfe, only to be matched by Kerry once again.

The Kingdom had free rein on the game for the rest, with just the defence resolute and Diggins scoring for fun.

A valiant effort from the Limerick junior team but Kerry made most of their chances to progress to the next round.
