Treaty hoping to build on Athlone win as Bray return to the Markets Field

The sides met in Limerick on the opening night, with the Wicklow outfit picking up a 1-0 win courtesy of a late Ben Feeney goal.

Treaty United are back in action in the League of Ireland First Division on Friday night, as they welcome Bray Wanderers to the Markets Field, with kick off at 7:45pm.

The sides met in Limerick on the opening night, with the Wicklow outfit picking up a 1-0 win courtesy of a late Ben Feeney goal. The two teams also clashed in May, as Treaty recorded a 3-0 win away from home, with goals from Enda Curran and Willie Armshaw.

There are just five points separating the teams ahead of Friday night’s clash, with the visitors occupying the final playoff spot. Tommy Barrett’s men had been on a horrid run of form, without a win in five, and were shipping goals, but steadied the ship last time out with a 2-0 win away to Athlone following the midseason break.

Now back at home, against a side they have already beaten this year, the Shannonsiders will be hoping they can build some momentum and push up the table.

Bray come to town off the back of a 3-2 win over Kerry, although that was their only win in June, following losses against Waterford and Athlone, and a draw with Galway.

That run of form should give Treaty ample confidence to continue a good run against the Leinster outfit where they will be hopeful of a buoyant home crowd.

Striker Curran scored a goal of the season contender last time out, and Barrett will be hoping the Galway native can find the net again on Friday, as his goals have been massive in getting Treaty to where they are.

Having weathered a very tough period, this is a chance for United to put a run of form together, and take points off direct promotion rivals.

Treaty United welcome Bray Wanderers to the Markets Field on Friday June 29 at 7.45pm.
