WATCH: Magee Hails Performance of Ballynanty Players

Ballynanty Rovers manager Donal Magee couldn’t hide his joy at the final whistle as his side defeated last year’s “bogey team” and one of the title favourites Fairview Rangers at the Fairgreen on Thursday night.

Goals in either half from Jordan Boland and Dylan Higgins secured the vital win which leaves the northsiders unbeaten. Even a late Paul Danaher goal wasn’t enough to unnerve the determined Ballynanty defence.

Manager Donal Magee was delighted with the application from his players considering they only had one substitute to choose from compared to their opponents who could call upon the likes of AJ O’Connor and Ger Barry from the bench.

I have to take my hat off to the lads. We asked them to play for the shirt and play for each other. We had a game plan and we stuck to it. Fortunately for us, it worked out tonight.

I was hoping we wouldn’t rue the chance we missed to make it 3-0 especially when they scored to make it 2-1. But we held on and I am very proud of the lads tonight.
