Offaly got off to a brilliant start with an early goal but Ryan’s side kicked the next four scores to take a 1-0 to 0-4 lead. Offaly grabbed the next four to reestablish the lead.

The game looked finely poised heading into the half before Offaly pounced for their second goal of the game to take a 2-5 to 0-6 advantage into the interval.

Fifteen seconds into the second half, Limerick were back in the contest as Andrea O’Sullivan expertly finished off a flowing move to the net.

A minute later the Shannonsiders erased the deficit as Oola’s Amy Ryan dispatched Limerick’s second goal of the game to push them 2-5 to 2-6 ahead.

Iris Kennealy made it a two point game with a well taken point but Offaly replied with a brace to leave it level with 20 minutes to play.

Limerick retook the lead briefly before an Offaly penalty pushed the hosts into the driving seat after 42 minutes.

At the final waterbreak, the score was 3-9 to 2-8 in Offaly’s favour and they would kick the next three scores after the resumption.

Cliona Ni Cheallaigh rounded off the scoring for Limerick with her point reducing the final margin to five points, leaving Limerick one score ahead of Carlow before the two meet in a winner takes all clash next weekend.
