WATCH: In their own words | Limerick’s starts reflect on historic All-Ireland triumph

Limerick claimed a 10th ever and third All-Ireland title in four years after destroying Cork in yesterday’s final in Croke Park.

An awesome first half display set the tone for Limerick as they raced into a 3-18 to 1-11 lead after the sides traded early goals.

Cian Lynch got Limerick off to the perfect start hitting over the opening score of the game before setting Gearoid Hegarty free for Limerick’s first goal minutes late.

Lynch hit 0-6 from play in a man of the match performance and described the Limerick team as a “family.”

His manager John Kiely praised the team after their record breaking performance outlining the satisfaction in producing a display like theirs.

Three time All-Ireland winning captain Declan Hannon described the atmosphere in the stadium as ‘amazing’, saying it ‘felt like a full house’, eight months after they won an All-Ireland title behind closed doors.

Speaking in the wake of the final, Dan Morrissey described the joy felt by all the players as they reflected on a historic achievement.

“It’s an unreal feeling. Winning three All-Ireland’s in four years is a bit surreal.”

His brother Tom clipped over 0-3 from play to add to his eleven points thus far in the championship. But despite his brilliant return of scores throughout the year, Morrissey spoke about the sides desire for work rate as ‘hurling follows.’
